About Faith

What’s Faith?

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

2nd Corinthians 4:18

"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."

"But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed."

Luke 18:8

"I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"

How do we obtain Faith?

Romans 10:17

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

1st John 2:7

"Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning."

What does God ask to those who have Faith?

James 2:18 and 20

"Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"

What is the work of Faith?

James 2:21 to 23

"Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?  Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God."

What is this righteousness?

Psalms 51:19

"Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar."

Our faith is worth when we please GOD with sacrifices

Romans 4:5

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

Hebrews 11:4

"By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh."

Does Faith mean the God’s Law?

Romans 16:26

"But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:"

Exodus 24:7

"And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient."

Romans 3:31

"Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law."

Revelation 14:12

"Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."

Galatians 2:16

"Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."

What are the works of the law and what law God refers to?

Romans 4:15

"Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression."

Wrath is a sin, it represents the law of sin

Romans 7:23

"But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members."

Galatians 5:19 to 21

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

No one has the Christ’s Faith, but a feigned faith

2nd Timothy 1:5

"When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also."

Do not cast off the first Faith

"For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end."

"Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith."

"But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled. Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways? Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?"

Bear the infirmities of the weak in Faith

Galatians 6:1 to 3

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself."

"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God."
