What is the Bible?

The Bible is the Prophet's Book; it is the Lord's Book.
Isaiah 34:16. Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

Revelation 22:7. Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

According to Matt Slick: "The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by about 40 authors, in three different languages, on three different continents, over approximately 1600 years. The Bible claims to be inspired and inerrant. This means that the Bible claims to be from God and that it is without error in everything it addresses."
Who wrote the Bible?
Holy men did.
2 Peter 1:20,21. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.
When was The Bible written down?
In old times.
Romans 15:4. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
What was the Bible written down for?
To instruct and correct men.
2 Timothy 3:16, 17. All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

What languages was the Bible written down in?
Greek Latin and Hebrew.
Luke 23:38. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Jesus spoke Hebrew.
Acts 26:14. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? [it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Who did inspire holy men to write it down?
The Lord spoke to these men.
Jeremiah 30:1,2. The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.
Jeremiah 36:17,18. And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth? Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote [them] with ink in the book.

Nothing is missing in the holy Bible; all it is written down as the Lord wanted it.

What materials did they write it down?
In parchments and other papers.
2 Timothy 4:13. The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring [with thee,] and the books, [but] especially the parchments.
Who were these writers and what level of instruction they had?
They were cattle raisers, farmers, fishermen, soldiers, physicians, theologians and scribes.
Nehemiah 8:4. And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, [and] Meshullam.
Amos 7:14. Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I [was] no prophet, neither [was] I a prophet’s son; but I [was] an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
Amos 7:15. And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
Nehemiah 8.3. And he read therein before the street that [was] before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people [were attentive] unto the book of the law.
1 Chronicles 17:7. Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, [even] from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:
Colossians 4:14. Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.
Matthew 4:18, 19. And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Mark 1:16, 17. Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
Should interpreters add up into or take away from the scriptures?
Nor add up or take away from them.
Revelation 22:18, 19. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book.
Deuteronomy 4:2. Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Nor one jot or one title.
Matthew 5:17 to 19. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them,] the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Joshua 1:7 to 9. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it [to] the right hand or [to] the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Jeremiah 23:30. Therefore, behold, I [am] against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.
Luke 16:17. And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
Is it necessary to write down many other books?
No, it is not but only fear the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 12:12, 13. And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books [there is] no end; and much study [is] a weariness of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.
Daniel shut up the Book.
Daniel 12:4. But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
How should we read on the Bible and since when?
To read both, the old and new testaments.
Lucas 24:27. And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Here a little and there a little.
Isaiah 28:13. But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

Read the Scriptures clearly.
Nehemiah 8:8. So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused [them] to understand the reading.
Without making mistakes or overlooking the scriptures.
Matthew 22:29. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
Read from childhood.
2 Timothy 3:15. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Read the scriptures and show the interpretation.
Daniel 5:7. The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. [And] the king spake, and said to the wise [men] of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and [have] a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
